I went over and told him that the girls were only 17 and he said something about living free and that I wasnt the boss of them. I witnessed with my own eyes Stephan hitting on my sister and her friend trying to get them to go on the bus with him. In 2010 I brought my then 17 year old sister and her friend to their 1st 3eb show and then brought them out to the tour bus afterwards so they could get an autograph. In 20 I witnessed some behavior from him that not only hit close to home but made me back away from the band entirely.
I remember talking to Tony at the time and him overhearing this and just rolling his eyes. I kid you not he asked her who the rest of the signatures belonged to. I witnessed one girl who was probably 20 or so show him that she had gotten the bands autographs tattooed on her back. This time he wanted nothing to do with anyone but college aged girls. The next time I saw them I got a backstage pass from Tony after he accidentally deleted a comment I'd left on the bands Myspace basically telling them how much they meant to me and how the song jumper helped me come out and whatnot. He actually seemed honored that I had a falling man tattoo and was nice to everyone regardless of gender or who he perceived as attractive, in fact I witnessed him telling a guy from security to give backstage passes to some fans that were not his type of late. I had the pleasure of meeting Stephan after a show in 07 and he was by far the nicest out of all of them. Up until 2008 they were by far my favorite band to see live. I haven't really gotten into the newer ones.
Regardless of how you feel about him I think it's fair to say that he writes some damn powerful lyrics, at least the first 4 albums. Their self titled was the first album I ever owned (on cassette) and Stephan Jenkins was pretty much my first crush. Sorry for the novel guys! But I definitely have a lot to say about this.
